Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon Rolls: Ok, so you may be wondering why I would blog about cinnamon rolls. I made them-that is why! I am no longer too afraid of yeast. I have made homemade wheat bread successfully about 5 times(thank you Sheri!) and Rena's dinner rolls...now I can add cinnamon rolls to that list! In WOW, my mage Bisyb makes cinnamon rolls to hand out to the party so they can regain health after a long fight. Everytime I hand them out my mouth waters...and I want a real one.

Using yeast was one of my goals this past year. As we were working on our food storage I figured out I better learn to use yeast. My Mom, Mimi and Granny all used yeast...but I was still afraid. I tried a few years back and it did not rise after several attempts so I thought that was it and yeast was not my friend. But with all the wheat we bought, and only wanting to store what we would eat I decided it was time. And I am so glad that I gave it another go! The bread is yummy and the house smells so good. The smell of yeast activating smells just like my Granny's house (my great-grandmother on my Mom's side). I also love photography and have not been using my camera enough. So, I had a little food photo shoot. Back in the day I was looking into being a food stylist/photographer with Southern Living in Birmingham. Today I was realising how much I love baking. I really don't like to clean up so I don't do it often enough-plus with working 40 hrs a week at work and trying to find time at home to get everything done it gets pushed aside-not to mention all the extra calories that often come with homemade goodness. As long as I can remember our friends moderation and exercise, a few treats will be just fine. Now what was I remembering cause they are really yummy!

Today was the day of cooking, I also made Granny's Chicken & Dumplings. I wish I had all day everyday to make yummy homemade, all day cooked food. It is the best!

Wonderful Words

I know most of you have probably watched or heard this long ago...but I tivo'd Women's Conference and watched it tonight because Kim has to work late and I was wanting to catch up on things I have meant to do. I love to hear the Prophet and leaders of the church speak...I ALWAYS fells like they are speaking just to me. It is really great that they would write the talks with me in mind. That is one thing that I love about the gospel. Heavenly Father answers prayers. Not always like we think, want or in our time frame...but sometimes no or not now is an answer too. Not the ones I like, but even those are an answer. I especially enjoyed President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk. I am so guilty of getting down and not trying to serve others and help others. It is all too easy to feel sad and then want to keep to yourself. I have been working harder to not be sad or upset when people ask why we don't have kids, but it still hurts. Of course we want kids..and since we just celebrated our 5th anniversary more people at church are starting to ask what is the wait. See there I go feeling sad again...I should do as he said and find someone and help them to feel better and uplift them. That is my goal this week....not to focus on trying to find things to make me feel better, but to help others feel better and more loved. I just loved this quote... James Barrie, the author of Peter Pan said: “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” I want sunshine, so it looks like I need to bring it to others. 9-19-08=5 Years

On Friday, we celebrated our 5th anniversary! Time sure files when you are having fun!! I can not believe it has been 5 years and at the same time it feels like I have known Kim forever. I have the best husband ever and we have the best day everyday! I am so grateful that he is my best friend and my love. He is so romantical and I love it! Thank You for a wonderful weekend hun!

Jackson Hole, WY

I think it is so funny that in the last 2 months the only entry is about cookies...well an update is due then. Yes, I ate the cookies and now I am still working out to work off the cookies. I still have a few pounds left that I gained while taking the "drugs." I am really busy now reading Twilight by Stephanie Meyer...it is an awesome book and I am happy there are three more just waiting to be read. I love that it is a great book with out the swearing and inappropriate stuff. It is still plenty steamy without all the extras. I can't wait to tell my little sister and see if she has read them....well, I have spoken to Jessica since and she said she has not read them. I told Jennifer too,and she said she would check and see if they are the library. And I am on the second book now. Right now it is Tuesday, May 6th and I am in the car with Kim driving to Jackson Hole, WY. I will have to say I love air cards and laptops. I love being able to get onto the internet in the car, on the couch, or in bed. Kim has a food show, and I work Saturday so I only had to use one day of vacation. I think it is fun to go to his food shows with him...sometimes it is nice to get away for a few days. It is getting closer to Bandon and I am so excited. I love the beach and relaxing. I don't like the 13 hour drive, but it is worth it! I have a count down at work I made on post it notes so that I would not forget! Believe it or not it SNOWED May 1st! I took a picture I'll have to upload it. I was rather surprised to see the snow! I am so ready for spring, but with the weather we may just go straight to summer. Wow! I just love road construction. It seems like Utah is always working on EVERY road at the SAME time all year long! Well...I'll write more later. I will try not to wait so long next time. I just have to remember this saying I saw in the Desert Book catalog

Enjoy the little things in life...for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things.
